I ran a full diagnostics on my 2007 R1200GS Adventure and it came up with.

GS911 Version:904.1 Date:16/06/2009
28048: Power Supply to Pump Motor faulty (ABS Pump Motor)
The fault is currently present.

I cannot clear that fault code. Those problems came when my battery is
weak, and when I replaced with the new one the error cannot reset.

The bike runs fine but ABS is malfunction.

Any help would be appreciated.

The problems came with 2 codes:
28048 Power Supply to Pump Motor faulty (ABS Pump Motor)
The fault is currently present.
28049 Power Supply to Pump Motor faulty (ABS Pump Motor)
The fault is currently present.

Anyone know what should I do?

Hi Adrian

Those errors will not reset while they are "currently present". Try
switching of the bike for at about 15min and then read the faults codes
again.
If the ABS controller is still reporting a power problem to the ABS
pumps (even if the battery voltage is sufficient (13V+) and it does not
dip significantly when applying the brakes) then there is really
something wrong either with the pumps or the wiring to the pumps. It
might even be the cause of your "weak" battery.
Since your bike is still under warranty take it to a BMW dealer. In fact
when it comes to ABS faults (besides low break fluid) - I would strongly
suggest taking it to a dealer.

Kobus

Hi Kobus,

Thanks for your information.
I have tried to switching off the bike more than 15 minutes before as your suggestion. But the problems still comes up. Battery voltage is normal, more than 13 v in all condition.

Sometime i can reset that error while currently present, but after pushing brake several time while riding, the problems is comes again.

I have checked also the abs pump wiring, socket, and all looks fine. I cannot bring my motorcycle to dealer, because we don't have any bmw motorcycle dealer in my country. We just have bmw car dealer. I imported my bike from other country.

My friends 2008 r1200gs also have same problem like me with same error code.

I already don't know what i must to do to solve this problem. It's impossible if i must reexport my bike to the country where i bought my bike.

Do you have any other idea Kobus?

Anyone have other idea?

Thank you very much.

Best Regards,

Adrian

Does the Red warning light (ABS) come, when you push the rear foot brake
Pedal?

Some R1200GS (mine included, 2006 unit ) come with the foot brake pedal
Switch unadjusted and you get randomize riding ABS errors ( cockpit red
warning light). It was 3 years ago but I remember how was solved, you must
adjust the foot brake pedal Switch the way that the brake light
Comes on before you hear the ABS pump.
I mean, if you push bit a bit the foot brake pedal and your rear brake
light comes on before you hear the ABS pump all is ok but if brake light and
ABS pump are simultaneous or ABS pump sound is heard before the t brake
light on, you get the ABS fail.

Another issue is in relation to the hand brake switch and the solution is to
replace it (new one)

J.R.

Hi Adrian

Could you provide us with the ABS ECU Information?

hi Adrian,

here are the order of things to test:
1. the first thing to do on these codes is to check battery status
(a suggestion here would be to connect the battery to a suitable
charger, then switch the ignition on and press both brake levers, and
check the codes (remember the ABS will probably only test for this fault
condition once the brakes are applied... (hence the fact that you could
erase them but shortly thereafter they would be back)
2. the Pump motor(s) get direct feed from the battery - in most cases
this feed is interrupted... and this is typically what is causing your
problem.. (unplug your ABS control unit and test the supply voltage on
the supply pins to the motors - this should be a good and stable Vbat) -
you will need the pinouts (wiring diagram for this). Use some
switch/contact cleaner on the connector... (always a good idea)
3. if the supply to the ECU is perfect, then it unfortunately is an ABS
ECU malfunction... so best hope it is a bad connection in the connector
to the ECU (or wiring harness)

let us know whether this helped.

best,
Stephan
