Hello
I just opened the same file in my copy of KiCAD (build 2011-11-27 BZR 3249 stable, running under Windows 7) and it seemed fine. The files was created in a considerably older version of KiCAD however, so I doubt there's an issue there. Perhaps your download of the file is corrupt? I've attached both that file and the PDF version to this message.
I would have to wonder though, why on Earth you would want to build that old version? It's really not a very good design, in some ways -- and there are no PCB design files available for it, either.
Did you look at our latest v4.x design? It uses an ATmega2560 instead of the '64 chip. But that should not present a problem, would it? (In case you came to the schematic you found through some strange Google result -- a better place to look would be
here.)
Also, circuit boards for this design (v4.1 version) are available at our online store,
gruvin9x.com, for about USD$12. There's also a full bill of materials with supplier part codes (URL links) etc.
Finally, if you're prepared to ait a couple months, we will be getting new stocks of the fully assembled unit. These typically cost about the same or less than sourcing just the components themselves for a "built it yourself" version (of which we have made several, i the past.)
Hope that helps.
Bryan
