I just upgraded to Windows 10 Pro from Windows 8.1 Pro and am having issues with most of the Adobe CC programs. I use Illustrator the most and would like some help figuring out what is wrong. I have chatted with a few support techs but have not figured anything out yet.

I have a self built PC with Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD3H-BK motherboard, Intel Core i5 4690K, 32GB of DDR3, Nvidia GTX 980Ti, OS and programs are installed on a 256GB Samsung 840 EVO and my documents and data are on a 1TB Seagate hybrid drive. Adobe Illustrator CC 2015 was working perfectly before I did an in-place upgrade from Windows 8.1 Pro to Windows 10 Pro.

Upon launching I receive pop up that says "Error loading plugins." followed by a long list of plugins and an OK button at the bottom, when I click "OK" I then receive a popup that says "The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. [CANT]" with an OK button, this popup comes up twice in a row. Illustrator is now running without any tools, as soon as I try to click on anything in the bar up top, such as File > New I get a Windows popup stating "Adobe Illustrator CC 2015 has stopped working". Illustrator then closes.

Worked for me. Thanks. I have been noticed that only when default print is "Nitro PDF Creator (Pro 9)" Illustrator crash. But when I change to another default printer the problem is solved and I can create a new document.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Creative Suite and received the same errors. I dug into the AppData folder and found the Illustrator Plug-ins folder was completely empty. InDesign was also throwing runtime-related error messages.

I just had the same issue with Adobe Illustrator CC 2015. It offered me a menu with checkboxes to update these plugins (after clicking ok on the menu of plugins) and when I checked all of them, I relaunched Illustrator and the problem went away. I did not have any problems with Photoshop CC 2015. Hope this helps. Thanks.

While I found no solution short of completely reinstalling Windows, I understand your anxiety with upcoming deadlines. A short term solution is to install the legacy 2014 version of Illustrator CC. This is exactly what I did when I had this issue originally. Hopefully Adobe finds a solution soon on this. Hope that helps a little, good luck!

Illustrator will automatically append Content Credentials to files generated using Text to Vector Graphic (beta) and exported as .JPG, .PNG, SVG, or "Save as", so you know when an image was created or edited in Illustrator leveraging Firefly's generative AI technology. Also, newly generated content is created in a new layer, which allows you to explore creative ideas and reverse effects when you change your mind without damaging the original artwork.

Text to Vector Graphic (beta) speeds up your workflow as you can explore multiple variations of logos and brand assets to share with clients and stakeholders in Illustrator. Quickly build out various brand identities (different versions of a logo or examples of product packaging), or use existing artwork to create new variations with a similar look and feel.

Try all the new features, including Text to Vector Graphic (beta), and experiment with them in your workflow by updating Illustrator to the latest version today. Push the boundaries of your creativity and dream bigger with generative AI.

I switched to Illustrator to ink a sketch (to get those smooth lines that you never seem to get in Photoshop) and I noticed that sometimes when I press down with the pen the create a brush stroke, Illustrator does not draw the stroke at all. The cursor moves with the pen but the stroke does not appear.
It does this every 4 or so brush strokes which is extremely annoying and time wasting. Usuaully when it fails to draw the stroke the first time around - it will fail again 2 or 3 times before finally drawing it. It doesn't seem to matter how hard or lightly pressure is applied - it keeps happening. I thought it might be some disturbance on the screen but when I switched to Photoshop - the lines were drawing fine all over the tablet surface. Switching back to Illustrator and the problem returned.

Hello, this thread is old but I hope someone pays still some attention to it, since I have the same problem with Illustrator and my Ugee2150. Brush strokes sometimes do not appear, just like mcsheff90 wrote. Has anyone got a solution to this problem? I do not recall to have had the same problem with my previous tablet display (Bosto 22hdx). I have a machine running win 8.1.

I am havaing this problem now. I have Illustrator 2022 and Illustrator 2020 and it skips strokes some times with both versions. It shows a circle that represents the brush where I start the stroke and it also shows the brush symbol that is moving with the pen tip. The circle that represents the brush stays where I start the stroke until I finish the stroke and lift the pen, then the circle that represents the brush goes away, while the brush symbol is moving with my stroke but no stroke is being drawn. The brush strokes in Photoshop are fine, they do not skip strokes every once in a while like it does in Illustrator. Illustrator is becoming so annoying because of all the bugs with each new version.

Sorry to hear about this experience. I would request you try resetting Illustrator's preferences by following the steps shared in this article ( -preferences.html) and sharing your observations.
Disclaimer: Please note that resetting preferences will remove all custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with the defaults. You may take a backup of these settings from the location mentioned in the article.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Does the pen device rely on Windows Ink Workspace? I would suggest checking the pen device's settings for such a thing. Enabling Windows Ink might allow the pen to work properly. But that might come at a cost of breaking all sorts of other things. I have a Wacom tablet on my home setup. And I keep Windows Ink extremely disabled because I simply cannot stand the disruptive things it does to ruin functions in Illustrator, Photoshop and other applications.

Adobe Illustrator is a vector graphics editor and design program developed and marketed by Adobe Inc. Originally designed for the Apple Macintosh, development of Adobe Illustrator began in 1985. Along with Creative Cloud (Adobe's shift to a monthly or annual subscription service delivered over the Internet), Illustrator CC was released. The latest version, Illustrator 2024, was released on October 10, 2023, and is the 28th generation in the product line. Adobe Illustrator was reviewed as the best vector graphics editing program in 2021 by PC Magazine.[1]

Development of Adobe Illustrator for the Apple Macintosh began in 1985[2] (shipping in January 1987) as Adobe's second software product after PostScript. Adobe co-founder and CEO John Warnock created Illustrator in late 1986 to automate many of the manual tasks utilized by his wife, Marva, a graphic designer. It used lines and bézier curves to render infinitely scalable graphics.[3][4] Illustrator was released in early 1987,[5] and became a commercialization of Adobe's in-house font development software and PostScript file format.

Adobe Illustrator is the companion product of Adobe Photoshop. Photoshop is primarily geared toward digital photo manipulation and photorealistic styles of computer illustration, while Illustrator provides results in the typesetting and logo graphic areas of design. Early magazine advertisements (featured in graphic design trade magazines such as Communication Arts) referred to the product as "the Adobe Illustrator". Illustrator 88, the product name for version 1.7,[6] was released in 1988 and introduced many new tools and features.[7]

Byte in 1989 listed Illustrator 88 as among the "Distinction" winners of the Byte Awards, stating that with it Adobe had "pulled ahead" of previously industry-dominant competitor Aldus FreeHand.[8]

With the introduction of Illustrator 7 in 1997, Adobe made critical changes in the user interface with regard to path editing (and also to converge on the same user interface as Adobe Photoshop), and many users opted not to upgrade. Illustrator also began to support TrueType, effectively ending the "font wars" between PostScript Type 1 and TrueType. Like Photoshop, Illustrator also began supporting plug-ins, greatly and quickly extending its abilities.
