I use Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol keyboard and VSTs with Reaper- Reaper keeps freezing/crashing every 5 minutes and I have to open task manager to stop it and then restart- I can't work like that obviously.
If you are using the latest V3 of Komplete Kontrol and you do not have an MK3 S series keyboard (if you have an MK2 S series, A series or M series) then try revert back to v2 of Komplete Kontrol. Likely that will run fine.
@karsai What happens exactly? Can you give a step by step description until the crash? Does Kontakt in standalone crash as well? What is your operating system? Does it happen with every library? Have you carried out these steps already? Kontakt Crashes
I did not try with Kontakt, but KK did it all the time as the original poster describes. OS win 10. Other instruments (I checked) did not do this. KK did this even before choosing an instrument. In few seconds it just hung up freezes and stay that way. This did not happened in Cakewalk and also KK standalone works fine. I checked and this issue is not what the Kontact crashes are listing. It seems running KK as separate processes in Reaper helps somewhat. I have m32 keyboard so that is not a problem. I also donot know how to revert the old version of KK. Thanks!
Thanks for the info. The links are very useful to understand what is going on. I tried the "run as dedicated process" with Komplete Kontrol and this helped and the Reaper did not freeze. I hope this will work also for larger projects. Thanks again! IStvan
Note: I've still 25 days before I need to decide to send the S88 Mk3 back to the music store or not. The out-of-the box experience was far from smooth and will use the customer support directly to report all issues...
I had the same problem before, but run as dedicated process is working for me. You have to right click komplete kontrol before you load it and then choose that option. See above a screenshot in this thread. I do not have mk3 and have 32 GB memory, so our systems are different, but for me this saves Reaper crash.
One more thing. many player instrument (deft lines, cloud supply) seems crash reaper if you choose a preset from the preset browser. This might be a KONTAKT issue, I reported this, but no solution for that emerged I know of. A workaround that worked for me is: do not use the browser. Load the instrument first and browse preset there directly within the instrument. In this case I did not observed crash
(quickly) and did not see any reference to the controller editor but did see reference the Audio Kontrol 1 kontrol panel. when you open CE, is it the version that the download description says it is? if not, you may need to uninstall controller editor the reinstall that package, as it may have just ignored CE because it was an older version. Other than That, have no idea what might be going on...at least you have an audio interface (assuming that works)
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but after the application has fully launched after loading all the VST3 plugins, the machine freezes and reboots. There is no other way around it that I can find.
Thank you for answering this question. The problem is fixed. There must have been some old unsupported or corrupt file(s) that where causing the problem. It is recommended to fully uninstall the application and re-install. I will share with others what I did to get this to work.
1) First of all, try not to migrate a Intel Mac to a new M2 Mac. Doing so will bring over older apps and plug-ins that may or may not work (Between Intel processors and Apple Native Silicon). I recommend only to re-install all applications "one by one" from scratch to avoid any weird behavior.
2) If you have a similar problem where Komplete Kontrol is crashing your mac, then goto the Native Instruments installation utility for your new M2 computer and review the un-installation instructions on how to un-install komplete kontrol (Located next to the application listing where you will see " ... ", click the 3 dots and read how to un-install Komplete Kontrol). When reading the un-install instructions, there are many places you will be instructed on where to delete files and folders. Make sure you delete all files and folders that the instructions ask you to do.
I'm back. The same problem is occurring again. I was a little hasty with my previous response. Yes, after I performed all the un-installations for Komplete Kontrol and re-installed it again, it worked for a while, then the problem started again. I didn't add anything new, I was just using it and it "Crashed and Rebooted" my Mac Studio.
So after performing a clean-up and re-installation process from the previous message and having this happen again, I'm going to officially letting everyone know including Native Instruments that Komplete Kontrol has a serious bug with their application. Further more, Applications should only crash by a simple exit of the application NOT crash and reboot your computer.
Hi, Sorry no I don't have a crash report, because the machine freezes and reboots instantly when I run Komplete Kontrol . To make sure it is not something else, I've decided to wipe my machine complete clean (Factory default settings) and re-install the OS 14.4 and then install Komplete Kontrol. I want to give this software a fair shot. I have my new setup backed up on time machine so if they problem persists I can always revert without losing my setup. I'll play around with it for a while before I come back to give my analysis.
Just wading in here with the exact same problem. This is a fresh M3 MBP. S88 mk3 controller attached. Every time I launch Komplete Kontrol the entire system instantly reboots. I'm now in the process of updating to Sonoma 14.4 in case this is an issue with 14.3.x and will report back.
Surprisingly, from times to times Komplete Kontrol just doesn't work. For me, it suddenly loses all library besides from a few instruments. From that point, when opening Komplete Kontrol or Kontakt 7, 3 times out of 10, it crashes and immediately reboots my computer.
I really don't like this. And after reading on internet, this Komplete Kontrol bug has been here for a few years. Maybe not the crashing and shutting down but the dissappearing of Komplete Kontrol library and the different steps to resolve this. Unfortunately, above that, some of us see our computers crash, and don't have the library available anymore, even after doing what is reckoned. This could be very worrying if we have sets to prepare!

I recently updated Cubase 12.0.30 to 12.0.40.
When I did, I lost all control on my Komplet Kontrol. For exsample:
I add a new instrument: (Komplet Kontrol) and use the S61 (like I have for years) to select the sound I want. Then I add a second track, repeating the previous step. When I flick back to the first instrument, I no longer have a display on my S61 and no control of the parameters of the NI instrument (apart from in cubase). This happens every time to every NI instrument I load.
I tried going back to Cubase 11, just so I could keep my workflow going, but that too is now suffering from the same problem.

Here you can see the Documents folder has been relocated to the D: drive from the default location on the system C: drive.

I 've bought a Korg Nano kontrol 2, which I want to use in Premiere for easier audio control. I've set the support control service in preference. But nothing happen when I press any key in the nano kontrol 2 (actually the same when using in Audition).
I had a Korg Nanokontrol that I used in the past, and I remember having to select the "Mackie" interface. Premiere Pro doesn't list Korg as an option, but it does list Mackie. Please let us know if this helps.
We are editing the sound track on a feature and mouse and keyboard can be useful but I prefer an external mixer for such task, especially as I can use the various audio plug in for compression, delays and so on included in the software.
think i have found a solution to your problem. in premiere pro if you set device class as mackie, the type as mackie control the input and output device as the Nano kontrol. Then un plug the device, hold down the set and reverse button, plug it in whilst still holding down the buttons, the reverse button then should flash a couple of times and it should now work in premiere pro, for me the channel panner works smoothly, the transport controls work, the solo/mute and record buttons work and the volume slider work as well as all the LED lights on the control surface.
I'm considering picking up a nanokontrol2 for premiere- so let me know here if this winds up working for you: Have you tried to right click on the audio mixer panel and select: toggle control surface mixer mode? That opens the audio clip mixer in which you'd have to click the little keyframe button for the clip you wish to mix on and then hit play and slide the nanokontrol fader- when you hit stop, conceivably the keyframes will be there?
