Fellow Servant,
Greetings in the name of our Lord, Jesus. He loves children more than we ever could.
It is March 15th. I have just returned from a week-long cruise in the Bahamas. It is cold and windy here in Pennsylvania. My youngest son, Tim turns 18 today. It is a day of remembrance for me. I remember praying with Tim to accept Christ at age four. I remember all of the years he tagged along with me to puppet practices even when he was so young he couldn’t hold a puppet over his head. I remember the camps and children’s church services during which Tim assisted me up front as I preached to children. Now Tim is all grown up. He stands about 6’ 4” tall, but in my eyes he’s much taller. Tim feels called to children’s ministry. In the fall he plans to begin studies under me with the goal of becoming a children’s pastor. He makes good choices.
As a dad, I am proud and blessed and thankful. I am thankful that through all of his years, he has had quality leaders like you serving him in the local church. People like the Staneks, Beranaks, Blairs, and Linda Melton have made a difference in my little boy’s life. Now that he is grown, the lessons learned under fabulous people in church, combined with what we have done in our home, have made him the godly young man I contemplate today.
Let me encourage you today. There is a congregation of little Tim Grubers waiting for you this week. Your investment now in these little ones will reap great rewards as they grow up serving Jesus faithfully. Do not be discouraged. Children’s ministry is a marathon not a sprint. Week by week, month by month you are blessing the children you serve. Someone like you invested in my boy. If not for a string of some ones like you, my Tim may not be the man of God he is today. Thank you. Keep up the good work. God bless.
