🎯 Summary: This lecture provides a comprehensive introduction to health economics, focusing on economic evaluation and decision modelling. It covers key concepts such as cost-effectiveness analysis, value of information, and the application of decision trees and Markov models to assess healthcare interventions. The session also highlights historical milestones in health economics, the importance of evidence-based medicine, and the challenges of representing uncertainty in decision-making. For those interested in hands-on experience, supplementary practical materials using R will also be provided.

🕑 13:45-15:00 - IQVIA 2026 Internship Program Presentation

🎯 Summary: AUEB and IQVIA are continuing their successful collaboration for the sixth consecutive year, launching the 2026 internship program. This 6-month, paid internship will take place within the Methods and Evidence Generation (MEG) team at IQVIA's Athens offices. The program is primarily designed for MSc students in Statistics but is now expanding to include other areas. It provides students with the unique opportunity to work on industry-relevant projects and complete their MSc thesis in parallel, co-supervised by AUEB and IQVIA. To introduce the 2026 program, a presentation will be held on Friday, December 19th. The IQVIA team will present details about the company and the internship within the MEG team. This will be followed by a Q&A session with current IQVIA employees who began their careers as interns and are also AUEB Stats alumni; they will share their experiences and be available to answer students' questions.
