Hey Friendly Coders!
It's clear that fall is descending—crisper temperatures are here. With that we are excited to invite past, current, and future volunteers together to launch our new Friendly Code projects for the fall.
Friendly Code is the Grand Rapids chapter of Code for America, a national organization dedicated to making government services simple, effective, and easy to use. We partner with city, county, and state government agencies to help support open data efforts and utilize that data to create great tools for citizens across the city. We are a community of both coders and non-coders passionate about health & human services, economic development, safety & justice, and communication & engagement.
At our meeting on October 20th we will hear from a panel of City Officials, including Mayor-Elect Rosalynn Bliss and Acting City Manager Eric DeLong. We will then be discussing current community data and upcoming project opportunities. More importantly, we'll be enjoying plenty of pizza and other fine GR culinary arrangements (likely beer as well).
Please plan to join us:
Tuesday, October 20th
5:45 - 8p (panel starts at 6p)
The Factory
38 Fulton St W 4th Floor
Please RSVP one of two ways so we have a good idea of how much food to have:
Meetup Event or Facebook Event
We've missed you and hope to you see you soon!
Best,
Traci Montgomery, Community Organizer
