Service Discovery with gRPC

Hi!

 

Can you share what is status of service discovery for gRPC? I read before that you are planning to use Consul/ZooKeeper. Is it still true? Do you have some implementation/scratch for one of these systems?

 

I’m asking about this, because in my firm we are starting to sketch some implementation of SD for our (internal) protocols to transfer protobufs and it will be easier for us to integrate gRPC SD if we know more details now.

Service discovery is part of client-side load-balancing. The team is currently working on a cross-language solution for client-side load-balancing, while whether it will use Consul/ZooKeeper or a gRPC-specific service discovery protocol, has not been decided yet. You may want to follow this issue on github for updates on this topic.
