There is a new gRFC to donate gRPC to CNCF

As per the gRFC, please provide all feedback on this thread.

This move encompasses a change of license to Apache v2. It is better known and a more familiar license by companies and thus is more suitable for our next wave of adoption since it will likely require less legal reviews by new users and contributors. You can read more about that on this blog.

Hi Varun,

The proposal indicates that it will be open for a week - the gRFC process requires a minimum comment period of 10 business days.
So the earliest we can make a change on the back of this proposal is Feb 15th. Therefore, the dates need to be amended in the proposal to accommodate.

Adjusted dates accordingly.

A heads up that if there is no further discussion here, the gRFC will approved and we will begin the transition to the ASLv2 license on Feb 15th.
If you require any clarifications or have concerns, please let us know now.

Thanks!
Adjusted dates accordingly.

As there are no further comments or open discussion items, I have approved this gRFC.
