What is TE in request for?

The doc (https://github.com/grpc/grpc/blob/master/doc/PROTOCOL-HTTP2.md) says TE → "te" "trailers" # Used to detect incompatible proxies. I have no idea how it's used for detecting incompatible proxies.

Could someone provide some pointers?

Does the HTTP2 spec for chunked trailers [1] help?
