Explore the story of Marty Jourard, saxophone and keyboard player for The Motels, on Wednesday, April 8 at the Matheson History Museum. The Motels have released five albums during their tenure, including the top ten singles “Only the Lonely,” and “Suddenly Last Summer.” Hear Jourard’s account of his musical upbringing in Gainesville, where he was immersed in countless different genres of music and star artists who performed shows at the University of Florida. These experiences provided inspiration as the Motels journeyed to Los Angeles and eventually signed with Capital Records in 1979. Hear clips of some of the legendary music that he and The Motels have played during their career spanning from Gainesville to Los Angeles.
Parking will be available at the Matheson History Museum as well as the Law Office of Folds and Walker which is located at 527 East University Avenue and the Kirby Smith Administration Building which is located at 620 East University Avenue.
