The reply everyone keeps getting is to wait for the update.  But why is it taking so long?  Is Microsoft working on ti?

And I am sure the majority of GrowlMail users do as well, I appreciate the time you do donate. I guess some think you can just flip a switch or change a line of code... After all, good things come to those who wait.

There is currently one person maintaining GrowlMail, I would bet growlmail is not all he has to do

Okay, I’m sorry if I offended you.  My point was that giving the answer “wait for an update” isn’t helpful to anyone.  Of course, we’re all waiting for the update, but it appears from the large, continuing volume of people asking the same question, that the vast majority of us don’t understand what goes in to creating that update.  So a more helpful answer would be a short explanation of what’s involved in updating GrowlMail, why it has to be redone every time Apple makes the slightest change to Mail, and a reasonable estimate of how long that might take.  Anyone reading that response would know to wait for that estimated period of time before asking the same question.

Thank you for donating your time, but maybe some time you could take a moment to also explain why GrowlMail is no longer part of the Growl project.  Why did this become a 1-man operation?

And feel free to moderate my posts.  I don’t intentional try to insult people.  Apparently you didn’t think my attempt at humor was funny.  I’ll know that about you next time.

P.S. -- I do hope you approve posting my apology so others will know that the insult wasn’t intentional.

between the day job, which is software development and spending the last 4 nights doing massive memory usage analysis on hardware growler 2.0 (getting it down from an initial usage of 140-160MB of real memory down to 30-40MB). I'm hoping to finish up the last changes to the "compatibility" update for GrowlMail this weekend.  Those changes are strictly getting it working properly on 10.7.5 and 10.8.2, bringing the Growl 2.0 framework into the bundle. This will likely be the last update to support 10.7.  The support on 10.8.2 is probably going to cause much confusion due to the way notification center integration in Mail.app is implemented on apple's side (inbox, everything, vip), so with this update you will very likely end up seeing two posts for each email in notification center if you don't have growl installed.  The next version will be 10.8+, make use of autolayout for localization, have per-mailbox checkboxes so that you can have more control over which mailboxes you get notified, better notification center support in the absence of Growl and a complete gutting of the current mess of a codebase.

Hi Rudy,

I'm just wondering if you ever put out an update so GrowlMail will run on 10.7.5 with Mail 5.3? I installed the latest download, and still get an error message that Mail has disabled GrowlMail due to incompatibility. Thanks for the hard work! :)
