hi,
i am a totally blind user
i have the latest OSX version, mountain lion
i just wanted to warn you that you did not consider VoiceOver screen reader technology at all while redesigning Growl interface
well:
especially these options are inaccessible:
the switches on-off regarding "start growl at login", "osx notifications", "enable/disable" single application
"on" and "off" are correctly read by VoiceOver but there is no audible way to understand if they are selected or not
then...
when you select the action corresponding to the style, VoiceOver detects the menu correctly. such as speech, and so on
but when you selected speech, voiceover's focus always stays into the very first menu element and to understand what you have selected, you must open the menu again
voiceover can be activated by pressing command+f5 combination
then, to explore a window, just press control+option+left/right arrow, respectively to go left and right, to previous or next window element
option+control+space bar, to select the current element
to select elements from toolbar, the one with general, display, applications and so on... just press control option shift down arrow when voiceover is saying "toolbar"
then, to understand what a blind person can really feel, try using Growl WITHOUT the use of the mouse, but turning the screen off while voiceover is activated. command+f5 to turn VO on, then control option shift F11 to open a black curtain on the screen
same combination to turn it off...
well
as Growl is a paid app, it MUST be accessible to everyone; remember that blind people's money are not different from sighted customers' money!
thanks for now
