You'll want to do the following in order:

kill GrowlHelperApp via Activity Monitor
open System Preferences
right click on the Growl entry
choose remove "Growl" Preference Pane
launch MacAppStore.app
click the purchases tab
click the install button next to Growl
open /Applications
locate Growl.app
launch it

Hi,

Today I tried to upgrade my installed Growl 1.2.2 to version 2.0.1 from the App store. I didn't uninstall first, but just bought the new version from the App store. I got a warning saying did I want to upgrade it and I said yes. So far so good.

The App Store says it's installed. But when I go to the Pref Pane, Growl says it can't start. When I look at the About tab, I find this is still the pref pane for 1.2.2. If I try and uninstall, I now get a message saying that the "security preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac App Store and identified developers".

Oddly though, Growl does seem to be running! I've just had a notification through Postbox that seemed to go via the Notification Centre and then a notification from Skype using the old Smoke theme.

How can I sort this out?

Thanks
