Suggestions for improving the history feature

After a few hours with the 1.3 release, here's my feedback on the history feature:

The window that shows the missed notifications is far too intrusive. Also, it keeps collecting new notifications while you're reviewing them.
I would prefer e.g. a highlighted menu item. Clicking on it would let you access that window (not through the preferences, just an additional item in the menu)

I'm not interested in keeping all notifications in the history, and this may be quite dependent on the application and user.
For example, in Skype I'm not interested in the "user is typing.. " notifications, just the text it sens later.
It may be really useful to define filters.

It would be great to avoid notifications while in a full-screen application, i.e. movie. That should be configurable as 'offline'.
