Select the app to remove, and then hit delete on your keyboard. :)

How do I remove apps from the growl applications list?  I have a bunch of entries for applications that are no longer installed.

Yes, I eventually figured this out.  Not very, um, obvious.

Now, how do I *add* an app?  Many of my apps that were giving notifications just fine *before* 2.0 are not giving notifications now.

We had a delete button and removed since the majority of the time you don't need to remove anything from the list.

Applications that work with Growl will add themselves automatically.

In other words, you shouldn't have to add or remove anything from the list at all.

Hmm, automatic addition isn't working for me.

Here is what I did:
  1. VPN Tracker 6 was in the list of Applications, but growl notifications were not happening.
  2. I removed VPN Tracker 6 (via delete key) from the growl application list
  3. I then stopped and started VPN Tracker,
  4. changed growl setting in VPN Tracker pref pane (on - off, quit, launch, off -> on, quit, launch)
no VPN Tracker in the Growl application list (and growl notifications are not happening).

Use Growl Version Detective and see if vpn tracker is up to date. If not, try updating it.

Ah -- forgot about that magic.  That did the trick.

I have been so used to Growl just working and never had to touch it for years.  Now this 2.0 comes along and seems to have upset the apple cart a bit.

But thanks for that help.

Unfortunately we had to make some changes to make things work with the app store and with sandboxing and a few other things. Some in our control, some not.

Contact the vpn client people so that they know to update their shipping growl framework. :)

Yes -- weirdly, I have apps that seem to be using framework version 1.3.1 - but version detective is installing 1.3 on anything older.

I can try contacting the VPN guys, but that was using 0.7.6 until I updated it.

Grab the updated version detective, 1.2.2. It ships with the 2.0 framework.
