What & how will we use growl once ML comes out later on this month.  Will there still be a place on a mac for Growl? Seems like the Mac's notifications will be seamless and clean just as it on on iOS I don't see how Growl will compete. I love growl and have been using it for years and I just wanted people's input on if you think Growl will still be around a year or so after ML drops.

Purchased 1.4 after much deliberation but have had it disabled ever since as it would cause my iMac to run hot, even waking it from sleep to do so*.  Will be upgrading to ML (already have DP4 installed in a vm) on its release and don't plan to install Growl.

*Can't substantiate this claim other than to say after deleting growl it's not happened since.

Applications actually have to add NC support. So it'll take a while before an app has NC support, at least until 10.8 comes out and then whatever time frame after that.

If an app already supports Growl though, it's a really easy thing for them to simply drop in an updated framework. If you have an app that'll never be updated, you wouldn't be stuck completely either. :)
