No application in the app store can charge for an upgrade, including our apps. This is true for the mac and the iOS app stores.

OK, thanks. :) I knew that apps in the app store can't charge for an upgrade, but you can always just submit a new app and call it Growl 2... so this was basically my concern.

Ya that's not acceptable to us. It would be one thing if the app store let developers set an upgrade fee, but another thing entirely to make a new listing and leave everyone there. Besides 2 has a high cpu fix that everyone needs, so we wouldn't charge for that anyhow.
