I tried everything... uninstall both.. but nothing.

And... I changed the configuration of "Smoke" to be more transparent
but some apps are using that configuration and other ones still used
the original smoke configuration.

Cheers

It appears that they're checking for a process named "GrowlHelperApp" as a way to see if growl is running, and since growl isn't a preference pane with a helper binary but an actual application now, the process is actually named "Growl". Note that for some time the growl framework provided its own method of determining if growl was running, and they weren't even using that (which is now deprecated in 1.3 since the 1.3 framework includes basic notification support even when growl isn't running or installed).

It doesn't look actively maintained since their support forum is full of unanswered complaints... I've brought this up on their forum Nov5: http://www.last.fm/forum/34905/_/1015273

I'd love to fix this bug for them if I knew how to get in touch.

...yeah, attempting to contact support in regards to desktop software gets you a message that they can't provide support. It seems like they fired all of their application developers to concentrate on developing their API and let third party developers do the work for them. Sadness. :-/

Here's their statement, with what I think is the important part in bold:

Unfortunately we cannot provide any email support for questions about or issues with the Last.fm scrobbler at this time.

Please have a look at our FAQ for help on any questions you may have about how the Last.fm scrobbler works. If you can't find what you're looking for or have other problems, visit our Scrobbler Support forum where you can discuss your questions with other Last.fm users.

Yeah, it's all but certainly dead and unsupported. I found more recently updated code on GitHub, from the last developer paid to work on it (as far as I can tell), and the most recent commit is on Feb2 2010. I've sent a message to the last committer, as well as a message to the official maintainer of last.fm for iphone (which IS currently supported and updated as recently as 5 days ago). Even if neither can help point me in the right direction, I'm hoping to get a definitive answer on whether or not the issue will be addressed at all.

I got in touch with desktop development and this is the response:

Hello Travis Yep, you've come through to the right guy. We've had a few people notice this too. Everything is working in my latest dev version, but unfortunately it's going to take us a little while to release the next version of the app. Thanks. Michael Coffey

So yeah... They're aware of the issue and fully intend to release a fix at some point. Not much more I can do for you there though.
