Hello there,

I've discovered a bug in GrowlMail.

I use GrowlMail exclusively to give me floating notifications of new
messages whenever Mail is in the background.

However, if I click on one of GrowlMail's floating email
notifications, it doesn't bring that email message (nor Mail) to the
foreground. It still leaves my current application in the foreground,
which then forces me to manually switch into Mail.

Once I've actually switched into Mail, I can see that GrowlMail
brought that message to the foreground WITHIN MAIL, but it should
really bring that message to the foreground ON TOP OF whatever
application I'm currently working in.

Check out how Entourage 2004 and Entourage 2008 and Outlook 2011
handle this behavior with their floating notifications -- this is how
GrowlMail should work.

Thanks,
Scott

Again, I've never seen this before, has anyone seen this?

Seen what? Clicking a notification work?

I only use it in summary mode, but I'm pretty sure clicking it activated Mail last time I tried. Not using it in one-notification-per-message mode, I've no idea whether showing a message window works.

Anyone else? (And please include what OS version you are using, as well as whether showing a message window works or not.)

showing a message works just fine for one-notification-per-email mode
and current sources.

the only situation that this is not the case is if you have another
machine filtering your mail into other boxes, when you click on the
growl notification you end up with a blank mail message window that
cmd-w fails to close.

Sounds like an exception. What does the Console say?

No, it behaving as he described.

no exception is logged.

the message is there when growl processes it for displaying the
notification, but by the time the user clicks the message has been
moved by the other machine from the inbox to where ever it sorts it;
and that point the message ID passed via the click context is no
longer valid.
