I just installed Growl 1.3.1, and Zimbra Desktop did not show up in
the list of applications. I downloaded the Version Detective, and the
Zimbra app did not show up there, either. Is there anything else I
can do?

Thanks,
Chris

Since I no longer use Exchange, I was looking for a new mail client and decided to give Zimbra Desktop a go.

Running Mac OS X 10.7.4.  I installed Growl 1.3.1 and am having the same issue.  I'm running the latest version of Zimbra Desktop (7.1.4 GA build 11299).  I have 'show a popup notification' checked for both mail & calendar.

Growl Version Detective does not show Zimbra in the list and Growl Preferences do not show Zimbra.  Notifications do not work.

Am I missing something or is there an issue?

Thank you for any help.

Do other applications that you have work with Growl?

Also, 1.3.3 is out, you may want to update. :)

I don't know why I put Growl 1.3.1. I'm actually running 1.3.3. I
upgraded to a new MBP and installed Growl this past weekend.

I found posts with the same issue but they were all old; 2010 or
earlier. That's why I was wondering if I missed something that needs
to configured. I installed Zimbra first then realized I was missing
Growl and installed it from the app store.

I've found that applications running the 1.3.1 framework work fine.
Anything below is not so I'm going to use the Version Detective to
start upgrading the framework. I've tried a couple already (Kika &
gfxCardStatus) and those started operating once the framework was
upgrade. I can't do this with Zimbra because the Version Detective
does not see the application.

I'll post this question to the Zimbra discussion as well since
ultimately it is the Zimbra developers that need to migrate to the new
framework but I was just wondering if Zimbra Desktop was working for
others and what they did to get it operating.

Thanks again

Zimbra is a cross platform/java app. Given that it doesn't show up in
Growl Version Detective, its likely using a method that is no longer
compatible with Growl, and since it isn't the framework, you can't
update it to a newer one. Depending on what options the app has, you
might be able to use scripts to send notifications to growl on certain
events, either applescript or otherwise.
