Just to keep you all in the loop, we're about halfway done with the UI for Growl 1.3. The general tab and applications tabs are completed.

I have a few questions with regards to localizations:

 - With regards to the localizations page, would you prefer that I put your names on it as the localizer for a specific language, or would you prefer that you all get lumped together?
 - Same question, but regarding the about tab text.
 - Also, I want to link to your websites if you have any, so be sure to let me know when you submit localizations back.
 - Do you have any questions?

Do you mean by "localization page" a page on the web?
I would prefer to be listed all together on the page. But if the tab space is limited, then it could look better to put only the name for that particular localization.

Right, but do you want it to be something like

French - Localized by x
German - Localized by y

Or more like this

Localizations provided by x,y

The ui changes are not yet complete, I'm just asking some preparation questions.

Yes, a page on the web. :)

Space isn't limited really, just more what do you guys/girls prefer.

I prefer Language - Name, not just Name. Website: http://www.linkedin.com/in/alexanderhenket

I would appreciate specific instructions as to how we may best serve you in streamlining the process of updates to Growl English, and subsequently submitting our localizations. I would prefer something along these lines:

1. Day X-14 - Announcement of string/UI freeze on Day 1
2. Day X-7 - Reminder of string/UI freeze on Day 1, or notification of delay
3. Day 1 - string/UI freeze. Build for download - by mail? by website link as before?
4. Day 1+7 - Ultimate date for returning localizations - by mail? by upload somewhere?
5. Day 1+14 - Grace period for fixing last minutes

The announcement period is important as there may be people on holiday on Day 1 that may want to make arrangements with you or others to make sure there's continuity.

Looking forward to restarting the localization process.

Regards

Alexander

It's going to look like this:

- As soon as possible - String freeze.

- As soon as possible after string freeze - Send out localization instructions

- 1 week - All localizations should be in.

- Past one week - If Growl is still not ready, localizations will still be accepted

Localizations will be accepted up until we submit Growl to the app store. That will definitely be a 7 day period between sending them out and releasing, but may be longer depending on backend code work. The first round of localizations will just be Growl and not the Extras. Extras (GrowlTunes and HardwareGrowler ) will be a second stage some time later this year, but most likely not this month.

When we send out localizations we will be reopening the code repository as well in order to comply with the iLocalize license. If anyone needs a license you will get one at that time.

Anyone who localizes Growl will receive a code for Growl in the app store when launched.
