Notifier for Spotify

Came across this yesterday - thought I'd share it out:

A nice chap called Ranveer Raghu has written a Spotify notifier at http://code.google.com/p/spotifynotifier/
Unfortunately the steps he details to get it working don't quite pan out, so here's how I managed it:

1. Follow the instructions under the "Growl for Notification" section at http://code.google.com/p/spotifynotifier
   
   
2. Get a suitable png image of the Spotify logo, preferably with a transparent background (e.g. Google search for "spotify.png" or use http://cf.scdn.co/i/press/logotype/spotify-logo-96x96-no-tagline.png) and save it as c:\spotify.jpg
   
   
3. Get the notifier executable - go to http://code.google.com/p/spotifynotifier/source/browse/Application/SpotifyNotifier.exe (it's the Google Code page for the exe, not the exe itself) and click the "View raw file" link (on the right) then save the exe in a location of your choice (e.g. c:\Program Files\Growl for Windows\)
   
   
4. Run SpotifyNotifier.exe
   
   
5. Enjoy
   

The SpotifyNotifier.exe program doesn't hide itself in the system tray area or anything like that, so it will appear on the task bar unless you use some other utility to send it to the system tray/hide it/etc.

Is it worth setting up a page for this under the Applications page?

Its nice to hear that you liked my application.

The thing is the issue you reported of not being able to extract the zip file is not happening with me or my friends. I am still looking into it.

And please check the updated version spotifynotifiergrowl_ver1. Now there is no need to manually register the app just download the zip or git clone the repo and run the included .exe file.
