Remember retreat? This is one of the hightlights in church life. Now we try to maintain a local retreat mixed with joining other Taiwanese churches in the Plain area. When we set aside hours for approaching our Lord and our hearts through special arrangement in life activities we have chances to see more in what we believe, how we practice what we believe, and how we follow Jesus. 記得退休會嗎? 那是教會生活的高潮之一。目前我們嘗試在到處參加平原區台灣人教會聯合退休會之際也保持有我們自己本地的退休會。當我們撥出時間，經由對日常活動的特殊安排，來接近我們的主和我們的內心，我們有機會多看看我們的信仰、我們如何實踐信仰、以及我們如何跟隨耶穌。
We are running the retreat in some very special ways this year. Actually, the theme messages have been delivered in Sunday worship several weeks ago. There will be no lectures in the weekend retreat. This way, regardless of attendance, everybody has chances to be touched by the messages. Here is a clip of live recording of joint retreat in 2014. It took places in our fellowship hall. 這裡有一段2014年在我們的交誼廳進行的聯合退休會實況錄影。
Through the above-mentioned video we can recall how the fellowship hall looked before the recent painting of the wall. We need everybody's view and opinions about how the finish the re-painting that takes place after 25 years. 透過前述錄影我們可回憶交誼廳在最近重新油漆前的樣貌。我們需要每位的觀點與意見來完成這項25年後的重新油漆。
Painting large walls is not an easy task because it is different from painting furniture or smaller objects. It takes some special perspectives, thinking, and experiences to have the wall facilitate our lives surrounded by them. In a church building, decoration, object placement, and space-allocation involves not only the aethetics, the practical and operational needs, but also the theological implication that edifies us as we move around between the walls. The first issues might be whether "we want the walls to be the major attraction that catch our attention whenvever we are in the building" or "we can easily ignore the walls and concentrate on something else like the people, the action, and other information." 在大片牆壁上油漆不是簡單的事情因為跟一般為家具或小物件油漆有所不同。 經由為大片牆壁著色來促化我們在那些牆壁之間的日常生活品質，會牽涉到一些特殊的眼光、考量、和經驗。在教會建築裡面裝飾、擺設、跟框間分配除了牽涉到美學(美觀)、實用、和操作上的需要之外也牽涉到一些會在我們在牆壁間走動之際培育我們信仰的神學意涵。第一個議題或許是「到底我們要那些牆壁成為主要誘因來緊抓我們在屋裡的注意力，還是要使大家容易忽略牆壁而注意到在屋裡的人、行動'以及其他的訊息，等其他事務呢?」
