Appeal - Funds, volunteers, employees for long-term disaster mitigation program in Uttarakhand

Dear all,

It's been exactly one month that disaster happened in himalayan region. RIP the souls which nature has taken in her embrace.

People's Science Institute, Dehradun based (and Nationally-internationally recognized) NGO has launched long-term disaster-mitigation program for the region. Last month, we appealed common man for the funds and we got good amount, part of which has been utilized in immediate relief in the areas where none else has gone. The second phase is mid-term program with temporary shelters, sanitation and solar electricity; which we have already started and will last for next six months. Third phase will be for livelihood restoration (Natural resources based livelihood programs), which is long-term program for next three-four years.

In the wake of a national disaster, most of the young people all over India were looking for opportunities to volunteer for immediate relief and rescue. Some of them got tie up with local NGOs, or formed their own groups. After one month or so, when most of the relief and rescue work is done, many assume that we are done! But now it is a time to do for their lifetime. Those who are still looking for opportunity to contribute towards national disaster, and looking for opportunity, we are welcoming volunteers, part-timers, short-time employees, long-term employees, as per the convenience of the volunteers for our mid-term and long-term program. Please spread the word across your friends and acquaintances if they are looking for contribution in such a way!
