It’s that time of year – this year’s Super Bowl LI  is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 5th.

and you’re invited to a Super Bowl party at the Harper Homestead in a bachelor setting!

Stop by anytime after 6:00 PM – feel free to stay as little or as long as you like.

Traditionally, 9:00 PM marked the exodus of Downton Abbey fans.

With the series ending last year, I’d like to pass on Mary Katherine Ham’s Downton Abbey Guide to the Super Bowl  as a gesture towards alleviating that void.

Super Bowl weekend is upon us. There will be much talk of football as we engage in this annual national ritual of carb-loading, commercialism, camaraderie and ...

(Official coverage of the game begins at 6:00 PM,

with actual play starting around 6:30 PM)

I’ll provide pop and some munchies – feel free to supplement them if you like!

Hope to see you there – S.O.’s and I.S.O’s welcome!

Feel free to call (616 350 2653) or e-mail if you have questions.

P.S.:  S.O. = significant other, I.S.O. = insignificant other

P2.S.: Bachelor setting = The pop’s in the fridge & you’re welcome to get it anytime you want (& anything else in the fridge – no claims of freshness implied, however).

P3.S.:  The Super Bowl exists primarily as an excuse for a party, so don't feel compelled to pay attention to the game.  However, the halftime commercials are required viewing.

P4.S.: Here's an attempt to give directions - let me know if anything is unclear.

Directions to the Harper Homestead from Calvin or Church of the Servant:

Note: Alas, both Google Maps and MapQuest misplace the location of my condo – hence the following directions.

Go west on Burton and go about 2 miles (if you’re coming from Church of the Servant)

or 1 mile (if you’re coming from Calvin) till you reach Breton road.

Take a left on Breton and go about 1 mile till you reach a traffic light at Saginaw Road .

(if you get to 28th street, you've gone too far.)

Take a right onto Saginaw and follow it as it first goes straight and then turns to the right.

You’ll want to turn left onto Village Drive.

(So you can better recognize Village Drive, you should know there is covered, reserved

parking on the left side of Village Drive.)

Once you’re on Village Drive, the first right turn you can take is Georgetown Dr.

The second (and last right you can take) is Blackstone Dr.

My building (#1) is the one on Village Drive that is between Georgetown Dr. and Blackstone Dr.

My condo is on the side of the building that faces away from Village Dr.

Park anywhere that is not covered.  (Covered parking spaces are reserved.)

Note that getting lost on the way to my place is a long standing tradition for friends, pizza delivery guys, Comcast cable folk, etc.  So, if you have any trouble, feel free to call (cell phone is 616 – 350 – 2653 ) and I’ll either talk you in or go out looking for you - which I’ve done numerous times in the past!  =)
