We are pleased to announce that Dane County UW-Extension has just released the application for its Youth Advocates for Community Health (YACH) program – a collaboration between FoodWIse and 4-H Positive Youth Development. This program seeks to engage a small team of high school students in topics of nutrition, health, and physical activity by working to address community health issues they care about. The 2019 program will meet on Madison’s south side at UW South Madison Partnership offices, located in the Villager Mall. This is a paid opportunity and will run from May to August 2019.

Why work with teens? There is growing recognition that intentional engagement and inclusion of underserved and marginalized groups is critical for building equitable and healthy communities. Youth are one example of a population traditionally left out of planning and implementation of community health projects. We want to elevate youth voice by bringing their perspectives to the table.

Please help us promote this paid, experiential learning opportunity for teens who wish to make a positive change in the Madison community! Attached is our promotional poster. The online application can be found here. Deadline to apply is May 1, 2019.

 Thank you for your help!

Best,

Claire, Joe, and Javier
