I'm using Multi axis tool path - Curve to deburr a part. First tool path looks amazing. Just what I wanted. So I moved on to the second path. Copy... Paste... Re select 3D Curves. I noticed that It says zero curves selected right after I selected curves. So I try again. Still nothing. I deleted the tool path and just started with a new one. Still, same issue. So I shut down mastercam and restarted.... Same issue... To heck with it, I restarted My computer... Still I can't select Curves unless I start a completely new file.

I have this happen to me on Surface-Blend toolpath. I copy the toolpath, then delete and re-select the the curves. Everything appears fine with no errors, but upon regenerating the toolpath, I get an error about needing two curves.

No you are not missing anything. Hard to train and show customers what you are doing when they can't open a level or see what you are driving something to. Part of the reason why I still use wireframe or surfaces for a lot of my toolpaths. That and the fact Mastercam still doesn't know you are working with solid when solids is the only thing on the screen. If I have to go tell the system I am programming to solid when solid is the only thing on the screen then why not use the process it is looking for? Wireframe and surfaces. I have label my levels and color everything and then someone can read the levels and see the who, what, where and why things are done they way they are done. I am not saying I don't ever used solids for programming, but find myself still using wireframe and surfaces for the reason you just mentioned.

I never use solid chains and never have any problems like this....takes seconds to create a window or boundary and the upside and payoff is just what Ron says. You have a visual for later... priceless.

When's first started using mcam on X7 as demo then we bought x8 I used solid A LOT. When X9 came out I drifted back towards geo/surface for everything and find I have way fewer frustrations and find myself happy with the Toolpath on the first green check most of the time. With solids I had to regen and regen to get the path I wanted.

Make it easy on yourself. Put drive surfaces on one level and check surfaces on another level. You could make drive surfaces one color and check surfaces another color and use the color mask. There are several different options to use here.

Just highlight the surfaces you want to use for a toolpath. Then right click on the levels in the bottom of the screen and copy them to a level you want to use. Now do the same for what you want to use for check surfaces. Now you turn off the level where the model was and you have check and drive surface separated on 2 different levels. Now when you go to select your drive surface have the level with the drive surfaces on. Now when go to pick your check surfaces you now turn off the drive surface level and turn on the check surface.

Now after explaining this I will say it is really not needed IMHO. I have done models with thousands of surfaces and been very efficient at using drive and check surfaces. I think as you get more comfortable using the software you find you do not see external files for drive and check surfaces.

Typically, you would use the same cad file for both drive and check surfaces. A drive surface is merely the portion of the model that you would like to machine while check surfaces are where you want to avoid machining. Some models and machining strategies require no check surfaces at all.

As for the level issue, You have the luxury of using multiple levels in Mastercam. In a nut shell, they reduce clutter. Think of them as folders. Use a level, any number, to put your solid model on it, surfaces on another level, wire frame geo on the next level, dims on another level and so on. You could even take notes in class and put them on their own level. When you start importing CAD files into MC, they may already come with separate levels established. Read the help files on using the level manager for more detail.

Drive surface= As usually seen in the classic style paths . This defined as a Surface entity or entity's along with Sold face or faces as the entity you want to drive the tool path motion over. As the thought of driving the tool over the surface as known in 3D tool paths and some 5axis.
Most of the new 3d surfacing paths call it Machining Geometry

Drive Curves are thought of the same way, except the usually are using wire frame curves to drive the tool instead of surface or solid faces.
These are also not seen as much in the newer Mastercam versions . used to see them call out that a lot in the older versions. What version are you running.

The VRTX has 2 physical servers in it (each with 2 USB ports on the front). The VRTX itself obviously has 2 USB ports on the main chassis but as far as I am aware these can only be used for KVM purposes? There are no other USB ports in the system.

I was hoping there would be a way that I can attach the drive to the VRTX (not to an individual server node) and then UNC to it from the VM (rather that have it presented as local hardware), or is this simply not possible?

I remember that I managed to take an image of two of those license USB keys and map it to the VM as another vHDD (this was Hyper-V) The third, thou, was a physical machine and I never got to virtualize it because of that USB stick. So, Optiplex 360 on my datacenter forever running Windows XP until that thing just explode.

Well we have a onefinity woodworker in our wood working club. I have one heck of a time with the usb disconnecting all the time. during cuts. today I tried for forty five minutes to insert the thumb drive and never got it to stay connected I have seen there are some issues with this other then me. Can anyone tell me if there is a fix or do we have a bad usb plug in I have done all the trouble shooting I can think, that they said to try.
I told the head of the cnc department today to get it fixed or send the thing back to onefinity and tell them to correct it. this is a club machine in a retirement community and and we have lots of people that will be running and I am suppose to teach them how. but with this issue i can not.

I bet Onefinity support would be able to help you out.
Masso is tracking this issue and has replacement parts for those who are experiencing any usb disconnects with multiple usb drives. If you have this issue, reach out to masso via their ticketing system:

This is a USB drive intended for industrial applications. Among other things, it has shock/vibration resistance, extended operating temperature range, ECC error bit protection, and power fail management.

Yes here we go we have to buy 72 dollar USB drives. That is ridiculous. I ran Haas CNC in the tool and die trade and never had a problem. I guess the swissbit people are looking to retire early.
Hell I can buy a hard drive for that price .

The Masso has no internal memory. The USB stick is the storage for the files. I had disconnect issues at the start, but used a new\different USB stick and have had zero issues since. It was a Sandisk one, not cheap\cheap, but certainly not expensive.

That being said, if you continue to have issues ALWAYS contact Onefinity support. I live in the UK, they replied to my emails within 15-30 minutes, sometimes less, and had new parts to me (in my hand) in less than 48 hours. They are fantastic.

They have been FANTASTIC both times I have needed them now, and they will be with you too. They will get you sorted, trust me you are in safe hands. I say this as a brand new customer who had no idea or preconceptions about support, apart from people in North America on forums, or YouTube influencers.

If you are running out of drive space for your PDM Archive Server, you can relocate some, or all, of your archive folders to another drive. We will present two options for performing this operation, both of which have pros and cons, which we will mention as we go along.

This process can take anywhere from a few minutes to many hours depending on the amount of data in your vault, so it is important to plan the process appropriately to avoid interference with normal working hours.

If you examine your Archive Server data folders you will see 16 folders named 0-9 and A-F in the root of your vault data folder. These 16 folders correspond to a set of registry entries that tell the Archive Server where to look on the physical disk for the appropriate archive subset. As files are added to the vault, the Archive Server distributes them across these 16 folders, allowing us to distribute this data across up to 16 storage locations in roughly 6.25% increments. In most cases, it is preferable to keep the archive folders in a single location for simplicity, but if you are limited in the ability to add capacity to existing drives you can distribute the load across multiple logical drives.

If you prefer to have more direct control over the process you can perform the same operation by manually editing the associated registry keys and then moving the folder structure to match the registry entries. This method does require more manual input but it can also be scripted using .reg files and batch or PowerShell scripts for moving folders.

Note that the changes made to the registry are read by the Archive Server on demand so that is why it is vital that no users be working in the vault during the time that these changes are being made.

However, I barely put anything on this drive; I installed every program to my HDD D:\ that allowed me to do so. However, I suspect that they probably still put something on C:\, such as what I can see in \AppData\Roaming.

When switching out C:\, will I have to reinstall all of these programs for Windows to 'see' them, or can I get around it by copying over some files?Cloning the whole SSD is not possible since I can't have them both connected simultaneously. Or, is this entirely application dependent?

No, you will generally need to reinstall your programs for them to work properly. They either won't work or might (but don't have to) cause a bunch of issues otherwise.
