Guruji will deduct points? i wasn't aware the Guru kept a record of points. hmmm... is there some way i can get a "get out of jail" card and win the game in one shot? deduct points... tha's a good one...

It is said that whoever are the abhyaasis of Naam and Gurbani, their faces will glow and radiate...It was very difficult to look into the eyes of some mahapurakhs... I dont know what is it tht stops people from looking directly into mahapurashs...they say its like trying to look at sun but u cant...Basically they have a strong influence/presence and power in their look.

That was 2007 now it's 2015 lol but still i will answer. Yes you can do Sukhmani Sahib in 2 days. Because there is no point in just reading fast and trying to finish it asap and without understanding it properly. So yes do half sukhmani sahib (12 ashtpatis) first day and finish another 12 ashtpatis second day.

DO I HAVE TO DO THE WHOLE SUKHMANI SAHIB PATH AT A TIME OR I CAN DO HALF AND HALF.OR DO FEW ASHTPATI AT A TIME .I AM NEW,SO THERE ARE MANY THINGS I DON'T UNDERSTAND.BECAUSE I DO WANT TO DO THE RIGHT WAY TO DO SUKHMANI SAHIB PATH.IS IT TRUE THAT BY DOING 40 SUKHMANI SAHIB PATH IN 40 DAYS A PERSONS WISH GOING TO BE FULLFILLED????I DO HOPE YOU CAN HELP.

I don't know about wish being fulfilled but you will find a lot of peace. I would say give it a try. I love sukhmani sahib ji. Your wish can be fulfilled and maybe something better will show up but I guarantee you, by doing sukhmani sahib ji you will not only obtain peace but if you try to know the meaning you will be able to lile your life Ina better way.

Where in Guru Granth Sahib Ji can I find this written, that 2 Sukhmani Path Every day equals a Sehaj Path? Who started these equations? These Countings?

Gurbani was to learn, Understand & to Implement its Principles in life. The so called "Mahapurakhs" never want Sikhs to learn, Understand & Practice the principles, instead they have mislead Sikhs in to Mugging-Up of Shabads in a Parrot-Fashion way, instead of understanding what actually is written.

I like sukhmani sahib. Its grand but also very lengthy. Whenever i try to do it, my mind wavers here and there, or else after a while i find myself just physically parroting baani but my mind is absent.

try not to do these pledges, eventually it might become nothing more than a chore for you. Do Sukhmani Sahib as much as you want, however if you do want to pledge that (big step bro I do applaud you) best thing to do is have someone else making sure you stick to the routine.

You know it hurts the most when you are looking at the number of ashtapadis remaining and how close you got to 24. Its like a slap on your face because you feel like you're just parroting . I want to reach that stage when I am reciting sukhmani sahib and I don't know how when it got completed also

That's great to hear. Speaking from experience, start with something you know you'll be able to sustain. As others have mentioned the last thing you want is for your daily nitnem to become a chore or an obligation. Feel every word and believe. Don't rattle through the bani with one eye on the clock. The voice inside will tell you when it's ready to move up to the next level.

Saakhi of bibi rajni inspire me though some say its a myth. That level of faith would be a gift in itself. And of prahlaad, namdev, draupadi, abraham, countless such examples where reality was odds stacked against them but because of their sheer faith, lord god intervened and saved them. I didn't used to believe in miracles until one happened to me. Before that i used to be agnostic.

I am reminded of that shabad "tu bhagta ke vass, bhagta taan tera" (you o lord are only under the command of your devotees, your devotees are your strength). Remember the language in this shabad is more of love than facts. God is not dependent on anyone, not even his bhagts, but its a relationship of pure love between god & devotee, guru & sikh.

you need to think on the arth of what you are saying as you going , try watching or reading for a gutka with arth(meanings) this will help to keep you focussed , also concentrating on shudh ucharran of the bits you are familiar with will stop you going into autopilot. This is how I started as a kid because I was learning what Guru ji was saying my curiousity kept me at it and it still helps now when I feel the glaze coming on , or I pause by doing nam jap and rejoin the bani mentally . Don't focus on how far but what has been said . Stay in Chardikala Bro and start with an Ardas for the blessing of gian and shudh ucharran it helps . Like MisterSingh veer ji said zero to full on is hard to do . You can do a sukhmani sahib in parts in the day if it feels too big in one sitting and slowly build up from there

The Sukhmani comprises twenty-four astpadis or cantos, each comprising of eight Pauris or stanzas. They are composed in the metre chaupai. A salok or couplet precedes each astpadi. Also each Pauri consists of 5 couplets consisting of 10 Tuks or lines. The first seven stanzas of the astpadi explore the theme stated in the preceding saloks and the eighth sometimes sums up the astpadi but, more often, becomes a paean of praise placing the theme in the context of an overall vision of Eternal Reality. This structure is maintained throughout the composition, from Astpadi to Astpadi. The theme of the Astpadi may give the impression that no traceable progression of thought is taking place as in a philosophical work, but there is a continuing unity of spiritual and ethical tone throughout the text.
