Firefox 'incompatible' with new Groups

I have two active groups on G-groups. At the top of the screen I get
this message:
"The old Google Groups will be going away soon, but your browser is
incompatible with the new version."
The words 'browser is incompatible' are a link to
http://support.google.com/a/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=33864, which
tells me that Firefox needs to be at v3.6 or greater to support the
new Groups.
But.... my Firefox is at v12.0 (the latest).
What is going on here? Does anyone else have this problem?

Can I convert one of my groups to the new Groups somehow to try it
out? How do I do this, please?

Google's browser sniffer is not up to date from the looks of things.
It will sniff to see what browser you are using and return a message.

I am steering clear.

I converted then I went back because not all of the moderator tools
are available or working in the new format.
