removed group creation?

I'm getting `401 Client Error: Unauthorized for url: https://api.groupme.com/v3/groups` when trying create a group with Groupy (python library) https://groupy.readthedocs.io/en/master/pages/quickstart.html#creating-new-groups

Has this endpoint been removed?

Seems like they removed it without telling anybody. It is now protected by anti bot measures. This change unfortunately broke many users' workflows.

Same here. Suddenly stopped last friday.

Was running both a "Create Group" and "add people to group" automation, but both just give a 401 error when trying to throw data into the api

Should we be thinking of moving to a different platform at this point?

GroupMe has reverted this change. A Groupme employee posted the following on the Public GroupMe API Development Chat:

"We’ve decided to reverse course on the recent device verification changes for group creation and member add endpoints. We heard your feedback and understand that the sudden shift caused frustration, especially for those of you building real value on top of these APIs.

While abuse prevention remains a top priority for us, we’re going to take more time to evaluate the right long-term approach. For now, these endpoints will remain accessible without device verification.

Thanks again for the thoughtful input and for being part of the community. We’ll keep you posted as we make progress on the new bot SDK."

Hello, I am writing to formally object to the unauthorized enrollment and association of my personal account and device with this group and related services. I have never consented to join or participate in any Google Cloud Platform project, GroupMe group, or business profile such as "Sound Nest" or any entity linked to "Serb Samoil". This enrollment was done without my knowledge or permission and constitutes a serious breach of digital integrity and privacy. My system has been compromised, and I have documented evidence from Google Takeout and system logs showing automatic associations and saved credentials that I did not initiate. I demand that my account be removed from all related projects, groups, and tenants immediately. I also request a full audit of any activity linked to my identity and a formal explanation of how this abuse occurred. If no action is taken, I will escalate this matter to the European Consumer Centre (ECC Romania) and relevant data protection authorities. Respectfully, MARIN Făgăraș, Romania
