GroupMe Bot Mentioning

Hi,

 

I recently made a bot to add to a group that when someone types ‘@leadership’ in the chat, it returns a message that mentions a select group of people in the following way ‘@person1 @person2, etc.’. However the message, when posted does not actually mention the people and they do not receive the notification. The text is just being posted as plain text instead of references to the actual people, is there any way that I can change this for it to work?

Hey Sam,

You can totally do this! You need to have the userId values for person1, person2, etc. Then you'll need to have the bot include them as an attachment to the post.

This is a bit tricky, because you've gotta "map" the locations of the strings ("@person1") to the user being mentioned in that string. So I made a gist to show you the basics: https://gist.github.com/jakebathman/0830789c9cd4167cd1da
