Automatting Group Creation and adding members

I am currently working on hockey tournament management software that includes a roster management system.   I was thinking that it would be cool to have a button that would automatically create a new group specifically for each of the teams and then automatically add all those team members to that new group.   That would make an easy way to allow the team members to communicate.  

But it seems that the methods to do the automatic group creation were removed from the API?   Is that actually the case?   I don't see them on the GroupMe developers site unless I am mistaken.
