Get range of group chats by date range

I realize it's possible to retrieve messages created before a given message ID, but is it also possible to retrieve messages before and/or after a given created_at value?

On a related note, is created_at parameter's value a unix timestamp?

Hi,
check our documentation at https://dev.groupme.com/docs/v3#messages_index. We do not support retrieving by created_at column.

Regard your second question - yes, i believe that created_at is unix timestamp in GMT.

created_at is a unix timestamp, and as far as I know you can't specify a timestamp range for messages. You'll have to specify the message ID, which I believe has a timestamp component embedded that you may be able to take advantage of to start your message group.

Good to know. 

Are change requests handled through this forum?

I work for a group of first responders who use GroupMe to communicate in the field. I'm working on a bot to communicate with them through our incident tracking system. 

When the incident is completed in our system I'd like to harvest the chat transcripts b/w the incident's start and end dates. 

I'm not sure I'll know the message IDs, but will know the date range involved. 

If this is not the forum for recommending suggested changes to the API, then could you point me in the right direction?

This is best place you can get to ;)

What is your exact use-case? Do you have one chat per incident? Or are you reusing chats? In first case, you can just "scroll back" ( == seek via API) through history to find first message of given chat and then pile up related conversation. For short-term incidents is this definately a way to go.
