Arrange 10 mini red cups like bowling pins on your board of choice. I used two small canvases I had leftover from our Art History series, but you can literally use anything that will support the weight of the cups and you can prop at a slight angle.
Flip your board over and a hot glue two cups to the top two corners of the underside of your board, creating small legs. This will prop the board at a slight angle during play. Or watch the video tutorial (and 5 Ways to Play Jingle Bell Toss) below!
Set the boards up directly across from each other with several feet in between. Have players stand behind the board on either side with a handful of jingle bells. Toss bells underhand and try to get your bells to land in the cups on the other side!

I have this all set to play at our family Christmas but I do not understand how you win this. Do you play teams or as individual members? Is it timed? Is it the team or person who gets the most bells in the cups?
I love this idea. Thank you for the clear instructions as to how to construct the two boards. I am however not sure how it is played? Do the players toss all bells at once? Where do they stand in relationship to the two boards? Do two players play at the same time? Thanks again.

I started by dumping two of the paint covered jingle bells onto the paper. Then, I just asked my daughter: What do you think will happen if you move the box? She picked it up immediately, and tried to make the jingle bells move.
After Thanksgiving dinner, I rounded up the kids and let them go at it. Once they got started it was an absolute blast, and some of the other adults would peek in to see what the excited shrieking was all about. Sometimes a bigger kid would help out one of the younger two, but the trio of eleven-year-olds had no issues at all. I did find the youngest two sometimes needed someone to catch when they rolled doubles because they would get too excited rolling to pay attention though. The sibling groups also tended to share the prize piles together, which was helpful for the youngest two, although the trio of eleven-year-olds were part of the same sibling group.
Each sibling group did walk away with prizes, although the team of eleven-year-olds did end up with a bit more. (They did share some of the items they cared less about with the younger kids.) After watching it unfold with the kids, there are some changes I might consider in the future to even things up a touch. Next time, I will either make a separate ball for the eleven-year-olds, make it a touch trickier for the older kids by making them wear mittens, or assigning each older kid to a younger kid as a team and they can split the prizes between them. Overall, they still had a lot of fun and I could tell the kids would love to do it again.
Jingle Ball is the best holiday game that one can enjoy with the children. I have not played it yet but reading about it through this article has fascinated me to go and have fun with it.
