I hope that all of you know what to do and that you are making fine
progress with collecting future course materials. It would be great to
see some results by the end of the week.
Can each one of you write what has he/she done? Where are you in your
assignments regarding the course content/design?
I'm looking forward to see the first results.

My task was to search content about different photography styles and
photography as an art form. I found a really good article from MSN
Encarta (online encyclopedia). In the article the different
photography styles are described nicely through the historical events.
The great advantage of MSN Encarta is that there are lots of
hyperlinks to further information provided and also a separate picture
gallery. The article has been written very interestingly and clearly.
It’s easy for beginners and even though I have participated two
different courses of photography, I learned lots of new things when
reading it. The article is contributed by a professional. Take a look
at it, here’s the link:

http://encarta.msn.com/encyclopedia_761575598/History_of_Photography.html

In Encarta there’s also a really nice article about photography in
general. Here’s the link:

http://encarta.msn.com/encyclopedia_761595618/Photography.html

I found also a nice page with a topic of ’A brief history of
photography’. There are lots of pictures in it illustrating the text.
Here’s the link:

http://www.eyeconart.net/history/photography.htm

If were not going to teach how to take photos, the course topic should
be ’The history of photography’ or something like that. The Encarta’s
article about photography in general is wide, so if we want to use it,
I don’t think we need anymore information about the history of
photography. Igor’s link to howstuffworks.com provides also further
information about technical topics and digital cameras. There’s also a
nice video about ’How to Buy a Digital Camera’.

If we want to teach also how to take photos, I found this site:

http://photo.net/making-photographs/

It’s a photography textbook. I haven’t read it through properly yet
but it seems very interesting. It includes also one video tutorial.

The main page provides also advice of how to take pictures of a
certain style (wedding, gardens, architecture etc.) and much more. You
can find the links from the menu of ’Technique’:

http://photo.net/learn/

Have you found any interesting links? Should we include also the topic
'how to take photos'? Please comment!

I wasnt able to participate to the chat meeting last time but Anu
informed me what to do. I got the clue that somebody would gather a
list of the topics and I would choose one category to find information
from (for example photographing style which was Anu's topic).. I
havent seen that list so I thought that I find some information from
photographing history. :) Here's some links:

http://www.tropinature.com/photohist/webpages/phist001.htm

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_photography

http://photo.net/history/timeline (here's a fine timeline about
photographing history)

http://books.google.com/books?hl=en&lr=&id=GDSRJQ3BZ5EC&oi=fnd&pg=PA1&dq=history+of+photographing+&ots=hQk5mg_JD4&sig=VxSzJWOMqBiRP_vZo1vvmanN0oo

I think that the last one is a bit too heavy material (book with 144
pages) but if someone is VERY interested :)

Great.
You can add the resources to the content in the google site
:-)

I'm just going through all the material and bye the end of the day
i'll post it all on google sites, so we can move on from there then,
when we have something concrete it's easier to add something if
missing.I'll try to focus the entire photography on few headings
because the whole area is just soooo huge.

I've been looking around for stuff about cameras and camera phones
(the hardware). There's a lot of content on the net, so that's not
gonna be a problem.
Is easy even to find reviews for a specific model, etc.

Course reading are going ok. I have to do the reading reflection for
last week though (11th)

We can add to google site the questionnaire form, if we need of course. It's a new option Google Docs (in Spreadsheet)... If we need of course...

I think it will be great... One place, when other people could write opinions.

Best wishes,
