our team carrying out research in epigenetic factors has just been
established. currently, information on many different types of
epigenetic factors is available in
various public databanks (such as SwissProt and GenBank). However,
there is no
specialist epigenetic database that stores information on epigenetic
modification
enzymes exclusively. Such a database will be useful for research and
analysis of
this set of epigenetic factors and thus, there is a need to collate
information
relevant to these modification enzymes and deposit them into a
specialist
database.

The Principal Investigator of the lab would like all the nucleotide
and protein
sequences of all known epigenetic modification enzymes to be
immediately
accessible and searchable to everyone in the team, with well-
structured and
organised information, proper annotations and cross references to
other
databases. It should allow lab researchers to annotate their
experimental findings
for each modification enzyme they have come across and to allow
future
expansion to include sequence search and analyses.

The ultimate intention is to analyse the comprehensive set of
sequences for
conserved regions as well as variable regions and synonymous, non-
synonymous
or silent mutations, discover the tissue expression, locate important
epigenetic
sites, analyse their phylogenetic lineages, and eventually hire a
computational
structural biologist to predict protein-protein interactions from the
database for
experimental testing of these epigenetic factors.

can you guys give some advice how to gather clean data for curation
and
better organise their scientific data for further analysis?
