Subject: Thinking of Sharon
I met Sharon Bishop at a dog show somewhere around 15 years ago, I would guess. We became fast friends, and over the years shared many a motel room at National Specialties and other shows. It was great fun, as even though we knew we had to get up early the next morning, we would stay up half the night talking and laughing! Sharon was intelligent and witty, with great energy and a zest for life- so fun to be around. I wish I had half her energy! She used that energy generously on her 2 legged and four legged family, with lots of love left over for friends. Whenever I was there for the Colusa show, she insisted that I share their home , and treated me to wonderful cuisine that she just “whipped up”. And of course I wasn’t the only one to benefit from her generosity- she bestowed it on many other friends also.
Years ago, at the Vancouver National, she showed Ursula for me. The judge at the time made a comment that he thought Ursula was a little fat, to which Sharon replied that she WASN”T fat, she just had a big coat (something I would never had dared to say). So the judge had her run Ursula around 2 more laps, after which he awarded Ursula BOS! Sharon wasn’t happy for herself, but was happy to give me such a huge thrill.
We all love our Leos, but I must say that she spoiled her furkids rotten. She went to great lengths to give them the best home possible, and was a breeders dream, as she gave the best home imaginable for one of their pups. Echo, from my second litter, was the recipient of Sharon’s great care, and is still doing wonderful at 10 ½. But I know that Echo, along with her other Leos , will miss their mom terribly.
I could go on and on about Sharon, but I will end up by saying how very much I will miss my dear friend. She was a unique, bright shining star, and I know she is at the Rainbow Bridge, loving on her Leos who waited for her, as she will be waiting for her husband Bob and the rest of us to join her. A least that’s how I will remember her.
