Idea
----
A community dedicated to projects that have a large impact. It would
encourage them to think first of all do stuff and secondly evaluate
whether they are doing the correct stuff. There would be a karma
system so that members of the community could encourage projects they
think worthwhile and discourage spammy projects.
-Karma
------
You should only get (visible) karma for posting projects, you get a
different karma for discussions.
This is not set in stone. You can also display the karma you get on
other websites (with personalised colours if you are logged in??).

This is why I haven't set up a website yet. I'm not sure what to call
it. I was thinking about going on a "I'm changing the world by doing
X" theme. But input would be nice.
It would be nice to look at previous world changing technologies and
ideas and talk about why they changed the world (hooking into human
psychology or a basic human need). Maybe do this on lesswrong, at
least initially?
But I'm not sure if this is the right way to go.
Tech
----
People will want to host their projects in a manner that they prefer.
Either github or a wordpress blog might be ideal for their project.
But they still want to be linked into the general discussion about
project and how they should be done , and show your karma score on
your page.
So my current thinking is all you would have to do is embed an image
on your site that can show your current karma score for that article/
github project (the web server would check the referrer to make sure
it was the right page).
People would also be given a bookmarklet when they signup that would
allow them to click it when viewing a project with this image which
would then give them an iframe allowing them to vote/see related
projects/ prepare to reply and perform other tasks.
The idea is that you wouldn't have to go to a centralized website to
interact with a project (or even create a new one). A bit like
facebook like buttons but less frivolous.
