HomeFront, the organization we work with on Thursdays, has a need for young professionals to help tutor/mentor children as part of a formal tutoring program on Wednesday nights. They are looking for volunteers who would be interested in participating. The main caveat is that you would be asked to commit to this service project on a weekly basis for the entire school year.

If you think you may be interested, please make the time to attend an orientation on Oct 12^th from 6-7pm at the Lawrence Community Center. Ask for Brian Helmuth, and let him know you are friends of ours.

This tutoring program is a GREAT opportunity to serve our community in an area of urgent need - but in a more formal, structured setting that doesn't reuire a lot of preplanning and a huge time commitment. It is also extremely rewarding to both the child and the tutor. We would highly encourage you to do this, or at least attend the orientation and decide.
