to GroundWork Monitor CE 6.0
Hello all,
We are looking at going P2V with our Groundwork system for multiple
reasons. At this time we are using a 1 parent - 1 child
configuration, with the child handling most of the checks and the
parent handling some.
Allocation of resources should't be an issue, but we are in a large
environment and actively use Nagios, Cacti, NMS, and Ntop.
What is everyone's experiences with using GW in the virtual
environment? After speaking with support, it seems the main issue is
resource allocation and to tone down the expected performance from P2V
~30% for realistic expectations in production.
For those who have virtualized GW, what is your:
1. General configuration (parent-child setup)
2. Scale size (ex: large scale enterprise)
3. # of hosts/devices being monitored, and
4. Service checks per minute
Also, if previously on a physical box, how does your post-
virtualization experience compare to before?
Many thanks in advance. I'll try to update this as we go through the
process so hopefully it will help others in my position.
Thanks!
