Kevin and I, along with our Guatemalan team, and Randy and Rachel send
our greetings to you in the name of Christ!
We are happy to say that we’ve been blogging (http://
allforhiminguate.blogspot.com/) and there have been a few changes to
our website(
http://www.groundworkguatemala.org)! Please take a look
at some new opportunities with Groundwork Guatemala.
Most of the time we feel overwhelmed with the needs in Guatemala
because they are so great and each story tugs at our hearts. As a
ministry, we are passionate about supporting the children of Guatemala
so that they are able to grow in their faith and knowledge and, in
turn, to influence their culture in a positive way. One way we are
able to help these children is through educational scholarships.
Our list of children in need seems to keep growing. God has brought us
many, many children, some of whose situations include the following:
-Two teenagers had been sent to the orphanage by their mother when
they were young because she had too many children to care for and the
current man in her life did not want them. The children recently
reached the maximum age of the orphanage and were released. They are
now back home with their mother and want to study! The mother asked
us to find help for her children.
-A young man promised his mom that he would finish high school. He is
one year away from doing so. His story is so moving. You can find it
on our website.
-A young eleven year old girl is sad and scared because her mother is
very, very sick. She wants to be a lawyer someday, but the hope of
achieving that is fleeting as she now does not have the means to
continue in school without help.
Our list continues and there is story after story of kids who want the
opportunity to study. With the end of our team season, we now turn our
attention on the approaching school year which wil begin mid-January.
We were able to attend several graduations this week and wish that you
had been able to see the tears of joy and gratefulness in their eyes
for the support they have been given. The gift of a scholarship does
more than provide knowledge to a child. It opens up the world to them
with opportunities that they never thought were possible. God will
use these children to do His work in Guatemala in ways that we, as
Americans cannot.
On our website you will see the stories of two great children. Once
these children are sponsored we will add more, so please check back
often to meet more children and read their stories.
This would be a great Christmas gift for a friend or family member –
and such an amazing gift of love for each sponsored child!
*There may be a child that you know on our website or waiting list, so
please contact us if you would like more information.*
There are many ways to help, whether through prayer, or one time or
monthly donations. We are so very grateful for your prayers, as we
boldly pray that God will provide sponsors for these children soon.
We love you and pray that God will bless you with all that you need
for eternity!
