to Groundwork Guatemala update
Grace and peace from our Lord and Savior!
I spend a great deal of time in Guatemala very confused about what
time of the year it is! It's often on facebook or blurbs on the
internet that I learn that, oh, it's Memorial Day or Veterans' Day.
The weather in Guatemala remains fairly unchanging with six months of
rainy season and six months of dry, so that doesn't help. Adding to my
confusion is the fact that the school year in Guatemala ends in
October and resumes mid-January! As soon as Kevin and I return to
Guatemala, Oscar and Ruth will be up to their elbows as they sort and
count and get ready to distribute the school supplies that we were
blessed to receive through the mission teams in 2009.

We were blessed, as well, to receive sponsors that provided
scholarships for twelve children last year and are praying that God
will send sponsors to allow even more children to get an education in
2010. Most of you are already aware of the sponsorship projects, and
many of you are already sponsors, so I won't go into too much detail
here. The children typically need two sponsors at $30/month, as well
as various beginning of the year expenses as indicated. Each sponsor
will receive quarterly correspondence from their child and can write
notes or send pictures in return. What great moments we had in 2009
when so many sponsors met their sponsored child in person when they
came to Guatemala on a mission team! We see over and over again how
important sponsors are to these kids as they save your letters and
cards and pictures in a special place in their shanty or home. You are
loved and cherished and become part of their family!

With the 2010 school year so quickly approaching, we would like to
encourage you to prayerfully consider sponsoring the education of one
of these great kids. You can find pics of several of the children
available for sponsorship on the ministry website at www.groundworkguatemala.org.
There are many more on our list when those are taken care of! Spread
the word!!

If you are interested in beginning a sponsorship or have questions
about the projects, please email Rachel at
rac...@groundworkguatemala.org. Thank you for your prayers for the
children of Guatemala.
In His Light,
Ginny
