(For those of you who are new to this group, Manuel is a young man in
the Only a Child ministry to street boys in Guatemala City managed by
George Leger, an American friend. Manuel was shot twice earlier this
week and, after having one meter of his intestine removed, we are
grateful that he is alive and healing.)
George says:
Manuel is improving very well. I have visited with him the last 3 days
and he is clearly better each day. I just spoke with him via cell
phone and they have allowed to begin to drink water today. If he
responds well, they may release him today. We have a private hospital
lined up, and once we get the word, i will make arrangements for an
ambulance to provide the transfer. I expect Manuel will be in the
private hospital for 3 to 5 days...
"How is he doing emotionally?"
Not bad, all things considered. He is very upbeat by nature and that
certainly helps. Also, I brought him a Bible to turn to in his
difficult moments. When I first spoke with him today he seemed down.
But when he called to tell me they might release him, his mood clearly
had improved.
He has a long road ahead of him. But, of all our youngsters, he is
one of the 2 or 3 furthest along in his faith. Thanks for the
continued prayers.
We, too, send our thanks for your prayers for Manuel and the other
boys at the ministry who were sure to be impacted greatly by this
event.
Love in Christ,
Ginny
