documenting directory structure

hi there...

since Joe recently made a bit of structural changes, i want to get this
off, before i forget about it. :)

- currently, there is a directory components/ which holds all UI stuff
if i am not mistaken. then there is a directory src/ which holds the
underlying stuff. in my current understanding, these names are a bit
unclear:
+ even the basic stuff in src/ are components of the viewer as a whole and
+ src/ is in my experience used for _all_ source code (except for glue
scripts (database, makefile, bla) and 3rd party stuff).

so i would rename components/ to ui/ and src/ to base/.

- in components/ there are three things: main, palettes and apps. are
palettes not part of the main ui functionality? i would move that
directory into main/ or move its contents into main/ (to avoid the
resurrection of find in the makefile).

I sort of agree. But don't do it quite yet.

Let's just say that they WILL be renamed. I'm just not sure of the
names I want. I want a little more time to think about it.

Should be just a search and replace in the docs, right?

yeah, i am not 100% confident about my suggestions either. it is tough
to find the perfect names and structure. :)
but at least we have written trace of this issue now.
