I just wanted to keep everyone in the loop on the discussions we had
last night after GUM.
Our first big next steps are to form a non profit, as I mentioned in
my previous post, and to determine dates.
For our dates, we will need to find a list of Thurs-Fri dates that
don't conflict too badly with any related conferences. We'll then
send out an email to speakers we'd like to see attend to see which
dates they would be available. Based on that information we'll pick a
date.
After we've picked a date we'll be sending out proposal for
presentation forms to the various speakers, as well as posting one to
the public. Once we start to gather proposals for presentations,
based on the amount of material we have to work with, budget, etc,
we'll determine the length of the conference.
Other items were discussed as well, but nothing concrete at this
point. Once we have these initial steps out of the way I think we'll
finally have the ball rolling on this conference.
