Hi All,

As we've discussed, it would probably be helpful for the local people
who want to be involved in the organization of the conference to sit
down face to face to discuss next steps. Bill and I talked today and
we both thought that it would probably be best to do it before the
next GUM meeting.

So, I'm just going to throw a time out there.
Tentatively, let's plan on Thursday at 6:00pm at this Caribou Coffee:
5551 W Lake St # 3
Minneapolis

Ideally we will be able to nail down dates, the basic format, and
basic finance stuff at this meeting. I'd also like to discuss how we
will be following up with speakers, sponsors and promotional
activities. Bill is checking out another venue this week and I'll be
looking into getting an LLC setup for finances before the meeting.

If anybody really wants to be involved who can't make it, please feel
free to suggest a different day or time. I know after Wednesday
worked best for Bill. My schedule is pretty open.

Today I met with Rosemary (Rosie) Davis. She has organized many
conferences. She provided a lot of valuable input and suggestions,
some of which goes against what we have been thinking. She has offered
to help in various ways, including some forms (budgeting, etc.),
negotiating venue prices, and more. In fact, she said she would meet
us at the meeting Thursday. Hopefully we can get at least five from
our group there.

I can't make it tonight, but let me know if there is something I can help with.  Let me know if you need any survey info - there has only been a couple more surveys completed since I sent out.  One main decision will be how to co-exist with the SpringOne groovy conference in mid Oct.  If we're within a month or two, how much of an effect will this be for attendees and speakers?
