Hey Guys,
Just to let you know, Matt and I are blocked on a few items.  Matt and I planned to work on site this evening but unfortunately we couldn't get access.

1. Content creation for the final animations.  If we only use the animation that is posted on youtube, then we should be okay.  If we use three separate animations, I'll need to know what those are so that I can make sounds for them.  Also, a final decision for what animations we're shipping with needs to be made, and if we are making new animations, or dividing the existing animation into three parts, someone needs to own that.  This is a blocking issue.

2.  There are issues with synchronization between server and client.  Matt needs access to the cube in order to sort this out.

3.  It looks like the cube state code is changing, and there's on dependency on that to trigger sound events (victory, start, etc.).  If there are changes that will be taking place, those need to be sorted out very soon.

4.  There have been several additional audio feature requests that have appeared in the last few days.  We need to prioritize and triage these for ship.

For version one, lets not be too concerned about perfect audio/video syncronization. Lets just get something in place.

For the final version, How about doing it in reverse ? You guys go ahead and make music with key point and we adjust the animation.
That's a lot easier to do IMHO. I think we'll make a bunch of new animations.

As for lengths i suggest we have a 3 second, 6 second, 15 second, 30 second and 60 second animation.

I'll set this up for you. Can you send me a public key (use ssh-keygen) ?

3.  It looks like the cube state code is changing, and there's on dependency on that to trigger sound events (victory, start, etc.).  If there are changes that will be taking place, those need to be sorted out very soon.

Can you elaborate on this ? Not sure i understand the issue..

IMHO this should be the order of priority for sound work:

P0: Get a sound running on the current short victory sequence.
P0: Fix the synchronization issue with the gear sounds
P0: Add a admin panel with sound control so we can switch on cube sounds.

P1: Make victory sounds of different lengths (see above)
P1: Make visual sequences to go with them.

P2: Other.. (such as make homages to classic video games and movies)

I actually think since the science center *liked* the current cube sounds (industrial whomp theme) we should stick with that for now rather then work on new "kidfriendly" sounds. Thoughts ?

Mike

I totally agree with doing the sounds first, then animating to the sounds.  It's much easier for the animators that way ;).

As for the admin panel for sound control, if there some bool in groovikscube, cubeState, etc. that controls sound, and a value for volume, I can put that together very easily.
