Attached are the “case suggestions” from our Technical Assistance Call last week on March 1st. I have added a word document to the PDF from Washington County. The final case we discussed regarding the other older adult in a local jail is listed below. Our next call is April 19th!
This is the addendum for the Case from Venango County we talked about who is also incarcerated. This gentleman was moved from his home by family after being in a car accident and suffering a head injury. He was living on his own, but began drinking, began a relationship with a woman in the apt. building and then was charged with indecent exposure, stalking and placed in jail. He met a young man while in jail who he went with to Walmart and got arrested again for stealing. He is back in prison; nursing home eligible, but no facility will take him. He has no history of criminal activity, his family prior to his car accident describes him as very religious and polite. Currently in jail he has been diagnosed with “failure to thrive” and has lost 30 lbs. in the past few months; he requires assistance with care, is not ambulating and is incontinent. Due to the rapid decline physically and mentally it was discussed to have him evaluated and possibly be admitted to a Geri psychiatric unit or medically evaluated in the ER.
