Sunny Wilkinson's Bio:
Sunny Wilkinson has taken her place in that elite group of jazz
vocalists who have stretched the boundaries and found themselves "one
of a kind." Her performance credits are impressive, having sung with
The Count Basie Band, Rob McConnell and the Boss Brass, Clark Terry,
Mark Murphy, Milt Hinton, Curtis Fuller, and Edgar Winter, among
others. Sunny's latest CD release is with big-band on Chartmaker
Jazz, called Sunny Wilkinson "High Wire." Her other CDs are Alegria,
on the Hibrite Label, and Sunny Wilkinson, on the Positive Music
Label. Sunny recently signed a recording contract with the Chase
Music Group and will be releasing a new duo CD in the summer of 2007,
featuring pianist Tom Garvin, entitled A Gentle Time - When Sunny
Meets Tom. Sunny performs regularly at jazz festivals and clubs
across the country and is assistant professor of jazz voice at
Michigan State University. She is the Past President of the Michigan
chapter of the International Association of Jazz Educators and the
past chairperson for IAJE's Women's Caucus. She is the co-founder of

March MAJIC Concert with Coinciding Art Opening "Painted Music" will
feature new works by Alina Poroshina
Alina Poroshina's Artist Statement:
Born in Moscow, Russia, I came to Lansing, Michigan with my family at
the age of 10 as a refugee. This transition had a profound influence
on me as an individual and an artists. I earned BFA in
Painting(major) and Illustration(minor) from Kendall College of Art
and Design of Ferris State University in 2005. The same year I was
awarded merit scholarship and graduate teaching assistantship at
Kendall. In 2007 I earned MFA in Studio Art from Kendall College of
Art and Design.
During the Summer of 2007, I traveled to Italy to study Renaissance
History and Art Restoration at SACI in Florence. It is this journey
to Italy that helped me realize the fragility and the power of art and
immortality of cultural heritage.
Currently I am a full time studio artist in Lansing, Michigan.
Although I am an emerging artist I had an opportunity to display
several bodies of work in three solo exhibitions in Lansing and Grand
Rapids. Most of the paintings from those shows are now in private and
public collections.
